At Mbizi Coffee Washing Station in Rwanda, the Women Coffee Extension is doing more than producing exceptional coffee. Founded in 2017 by Aline Christine and Odette Uwamariya, this cooperative of more than 700 women growers is creating space for female producers to lead, earn, and shape the future of Rwandan specialty coffee.
Through agricultural education, nutrition and family planning programs, and initiatives like providing cows and goats to members, WCE has helped increase yields from 3 to 4 kilos per tree and doubled overall production. Their vision continues to expand with goals of Rainforest certification, broader health insurance coverage, a sewing center for young people, and even a nursery school for local children. Every box you purchase supports that momentum.
In the cup, this lot shines at a lighter medium roast, where its character feels clear and composed. Expect bright grapefruit, elegant black tea, and a hint of raspberry sweetness. It is vibrant yet grounded, with structure and lift.
Brew it knowing that your morning ritual is connected to something larger than itself.

A lighter medium roast balances lively acidity with caramelized sweetness and a silky body, preserving the coffee’s origin flavors while adding warmth, structure, and a clean, nuanced finish.
